Cold Bomb (Thieves) Blend
Any good essential oils user knows the benefits of the Thieves Blend from Young Living.
I don’t buy from Young Living - even though I have several friends who buy and sell the brand, I don’t, it’s just my personal preference. I do buy oils from Revive Oils (I am NOT affiliated with Revive, but would appreciate if you used my referral link so I can get $10 in my account!)
I’ll admit, my husband still thinks essential oils are ‘Hocus Pocus’ but I think there is something to it all. Our oldest is severely special needs, and when she is down with a cold, she won’t take liquid medicine and cannot swallow capsules. So in a desperate moment I purchased a Cold Bomb Roller from a YL friend. I watched it work before my eyes. Angel was not fully relieved from the cold symptoms, but she obviously did feel better.
Since then, I’ve been reading a lot and when I tell you there is a lot of misinformation out there, I’m not lying. I don’t like to use the corporate MLM companies for many reasons, and one of those reasons is that they spend more time marketing than they do informing. So I “did my own research” as they say and use oils sparingly and intentionally.
This is my blend. It is a combination of several thieves blend recipes I’ve found via Pinterest along with trial and results of my own use. I am in no way a professional aromatherapist, natrualpath or herbalist. I am not a medical professional. I’m just a mom who uses this blend in her home, sharing her ways with you.
COLD BOMB BLEND
You’ll need a couple things to get started:
Amber or colored dropper bottle to mix the concentrate in (you could use an old oil bottle, cleaned)
Empty roller bottles, I recommend amber or dark color
In your dropper bottle make the concentrate:
40 drops clove oil
35 drop lemon oil
20 drops cinnamon bark oil
15 drops eucalyptus oil
10 drops rosemary oil
HOW TO USE THE CONCENTRATE
now that you have your blend mixed up, you can use it in so many ways!
the first thing I do at the first sign of a cold in the house is start diffusing it everywhere!
I have this diffuser in my living room and I LOVE it. It lasts all day and is in the central space of our home
The second thing I do is mix up a roller ball
In a 10ml roller ball drop approx 20 drops of oil concentrate and fill the remainder of the bottle with a carrier oil like coconut oil or grapeseed oil . IMPORTANT NOTE : this dilution ratio is for adults, if you want to use a roller for your kids, use at least half of the amount of concentrate (10 drops) or even less for smaller children. Please do you due diligence before using essential oils for treating children.
